What is an LCA file?

LCA files mostly belong to Adobe LiveCycle Designer. The LCA file extension is used by different applications, each designed for a specific purpose.

How to open LCA files

You need a suitable software like Adobe LiveCycle Designer to open an LCA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LCA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LCA file directly in the browser:. LCA file format:

The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our examination of the LCA files comes to the following conclusion:

LCA is not a commonly used file extension and includes various formats for various programs. The file formats most commonly found in LCA files are:

• 35% of all LCA files use the same file format, which have the signature TYPE='LCA FILE' VERSION='. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The file size is in the range of 33 KB to 1 MB. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. TYPE='LCA FILE', UNITS, USER, VERSION, FILENAME, num_load_cases, num_load_points, SOURCE='PLS-CADD Version, 1 1 1 1 0 and SOURCE='PLS-POLE Version. Such LCA files store data about pole and type.
• 25% of all LCA files are based on the zip format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one LCA file. A typical number of included files is 6. Customary file names are app.info. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. The file size is in the range of 6 KB to 970 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. APDF. These files are attributed to archive, digital and apdf.
