Opening an LDATA File

The LDATA file type is primarily associated with JSim.

What is an LDATA file?

LDATA files mostly belong to JSim by University of Washington. JSim is a Java-based simulation system for building quantitative numeric models and analyzing them with respect to experimental reference data. JSim's primary focus is in physiology and biomedicine, however its computational engine is quite general and applicable to a wide range of scientific domains. JSim models may intermix ODEs, PDEs, implicit equations, integrals, summations, discrete events and procedural code as appropriate. JSim's model compiler can automatically insert conversion factors for compatible physical units as well as detect and reject unit unbalanced equations. JSim also imports the SBML and CellML model archival formats. JSim should not be confused with J-Sim (formerly known as JavaSim).

How to open an LDATA file

You need a suitable software like JSim to open an LDATA file. You need a suitable software like JSim from University of Washington to open an LDATA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LDATA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LDATA file directly in the browser:. Can't Open Your .LDATA File? Try These Steps

Because .LDATA files can come from various programs, they aren't universally openable.

  1. Identify the Source: Files received from academic researchers or physiological modeling workflows usually suggest it is a JSim data file.
  2. Check the Header: Inspect the first few lines or bytes in a text or hex editor:
    • Plain text numbers and variables indicate a JSim Line Data Format.
    • Readable XML or JSON suggests a generic data export.
    • "PK" or random symbols mean it is a compressed or proprietary binary.
  3. Use the Original Software: The original program is usually required; try opening it with JSim (by the University of Washington) or a standard text editor, and ask the sender if you remain uncertain.
  4. Use this Webpage: Drag and drop your file into our viewer to detect the format, extract readable text or metadata, and preview contents.

How to solve problems with LDATA files

  • Associate the LDATA file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open line data formats. Because only the current version supports the latest LDATA file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the University of Washington manufacturer website after an available JSim update.
  • To make sure that your LDATA file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
