What is a LIP file?

LIP files mostly belong to Clip Studio Paint by Celsys. LIP is the filename extension of files containing paintings created with older versions of Clip Studio Paint (Manga Studio), a graphics editor for creating illustrations, paintings, and animations used in comic books. The LIP file contains multiple layers of raster and/or vector graphics, images, brush strokes, color information, layout settings, text, and project metadata. The final edition of the painting or illustration stored in a LIP file may be exported as a JPG, TIFF, or PNG file. Lip sync files used by Bethesda Softworks video games such as the Fallout series and The Elder Scrolls IV: Obliviion also have LIP filename extension. This LIP file contains text data used to synchronize the lip (mouth) movements of a game character with words in a corresponding audio file, in order to simulate speech. The lip sync file used by Bohemia Interacive video games such as Operation Flashpoint also have LIP filename extension.

How to open a LIP file

You need a suitable software like Clip Studio Paint to open a LIP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LIP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LIP file directly in the browser:.
