What is a MAJ file?

MAJ files mostly belong to MagicCAD/Autodesk Fabrication. Definition: MAJ files are CAD files used for mechanical design and detailed engineering drawings.

MAJ file format:

To find out what program is needed to open MAJ files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the MAJ files comes to the following conclusion:

MAJ is not a common file extension and mainly uses a special format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 70% of all MAJ files start with the magic bytes MAP Compressed File , which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. Most of these files are 12 KB to 660 KB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. MAP Compressed File. Files like these are about duct and level.
• 10% of all MAJ files use the same file format, which have the signature 09 00 00 00 B5 EB 04 01 74 C6 24. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are 74 KB to 6 MB in size, with a median of 1 MB.
