What is a MES file?

How to open MES files

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the MES files:

Files with the MES extension are quite widely used. This file type includes a lot of different file formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 15% of all MES files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters " 2." at the beginning. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 220 KB in size and range from 140 KB to 380 KB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. The files contain the following words: Display Ansicht, Druck Ansicht, Display View and Printing View. The file name LI 7CW Sandwick .mes is typical for these files. Such files are related to soul, sandwick, auflage, mistral, black, color, satinschwarz and liquid.
• 7% of all MES files have the same signature 3.. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. Most of these files are 160 KB to 330 KB in size. The keywords Display Ansicht, Druck Ansicht, Display View and Printing View are typical for these files. A usual file name is 2V0F-55-1448.mes.

All other MES files (78%) have no consistent format, frequently e.g. XML, Source, mes, ThermoPlus, MED, From, STRT and PAS. Sometimes used for data, message, common, scene, stage, mesure, item or name.
