What is an MWF file?

MWF files mostly belong to PicoScope. MWF files store waveform measurement data used in technical and medical fields.
They are produced by specialized hardware and software for capturing and analyzing time-series signals.

PicoScope waveform files: Used by PxWave systems for capturing electronic signals and measurement data.

How to open an MWF file

You need a suitable software like PicoScope to open an MWF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. MWF file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below is our analysis of the MWF files:

The MWF file type covers different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 35% of all MWF files start with the magic bytes Mw, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are often between 160 KB and 7 MB in size. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Sync. These files can be linked to longer, channel, camry and passat.
• 7% of all MWF files start with the bytes @ MFR , which are crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 30 KB to 920 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as NIHON KOHDEN and @ MFR Standard 12 leads ECG. The file name ECG01.mwf or FULLDISC_20180601_1.mwf is typical for these files.
