What is an MXS file?

MXS files mostly belong to Maxwel Render by Next Limit. Files with MXS file extension are usually 3D scene definitions created using Maxwell Render software development kit and editable in Maxwell Studio. The definitions in a MXS 3D scene describes the physical properties of a rendered 3D scene. ArcView, a GIS software for Windows also uses the MXM file extension to store geocoding index for read-write shapefiles in ODB format. Painter, a graphics creation/editing software by Corel stores paint colors, brushes, and colors mixed on its Mixer Pad in MXS files. How to open an MXS file

You need a suitable software like Maxwel Render to open an MXS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
