What is an NCP file?

NCP files mostly belong to Specialized Tools. NCP files are not a single standard file type. Their use depends on the creating software.

NCP file format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The files are 3 KB to 43 KB in size, with a median of 21 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <Project>, Name and <ProjectItem type="NClass.DiagramEditor.ClassDiagram.Diagram" assembly="NClass.DiagramEditor, Version=2.4.1823.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null">. Examples of file names are DoD.ncp or INF101 Sem2_v2.ncp. Such NCP files store data about diagram.

All other NCP files (65%) have no uniform format, such as Nikon Custom Picture Control, config, ZIP, TITLE, IMF, Color, Namosoft and ADT.
