What is a NY file

NY files mostly belong to Audacity by Audacity Team. An NY file is a plugin written in Nyquist programming language and used by Audacity audio recording and editing software. The NY file is essentially a script containing a sequence of Nyquist commands which allows a user to perform tasks which are not possible with the base version of Audacity. Nyquist is a Lisp-based sound synthesis and analysis programming language. The language and its interpreter were developed by Roger Dannenberg and integrated into Audacity. The program uses only a subset of Nyquist functionality, allowing the user to process audio data with Nyquist functions.

How to open NY files

You need a suitable software like Audacity from Audacity Team to open a NY file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
