What is an OMA file

OMA files mostly belong to OpenMG Jukebox.

Audio Files (Sony OpenMG): The .oma extension is most often used for audio files in the Sony OpenMG system. These files hold music data that may be protected with DRM. You can open them with Sony's OpenMG Jukebox software.

Optical Measurement Data:
Other .oma files come from optical marking applications. They store measurement details from instruments used in optical data capture. Devices from companies like Nidek produce these files.

CNC and Robot Program Files:
A few .oma files are used in industrial settings. They can include CNC machine tool data or Fanuc robot program instructions and are handled by specialized editors such as OMA Editor.

If you cannot open your OMA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a OMA file directly in the browser:. These files are in Sony's ATRAC3 format. There appears to be several ways to read/convert these files. One is to use a program like SonicStage to burn them to a CD. Then, use whatever program you like to rip the audio off the CD and convert to whatever format suits. You should also be able to use the original Sony software with the Tools | Options | CD Recording | Select Format menu to convert to a .WAV CD format which can then be ripped. Can be played with SonicStage 2.1+. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 65 61 33 03 00 00 00, ASCII: ea3 . This file format is classified as Audio. OMA file extension format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the OMA files:

The OMA file extension is not common and predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most common formats are as follows:

The remaining 14% of all OMA files are files with no common format, the following 3 formats exist: SDBIHgK. If you want to find out which format your OMA file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .oma file to play".
