Opening OPT Files
The OPT file type is primarily associated with MySQL.
What is an OPT file?
How to open OPT files
You need a suitable software like MySQL to open an OPT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your OPT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a OPT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

OPT file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the OPT files looks like this:
You will often come across the OPT file type. This includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all OPT files have the same signature default-character-set=. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are often between 61 bytes and 67 bytes in size. The file type is relatively new. The files contain the following words: default-character-set=utf8, general, default-character-set=latin1 and default-collation=latin1_swedish_ci. A common filename is db.opt.
- 5% of all OPT files start with the magic bytes CXProgVer:="1.6";, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are on average 5 KB in size and range from 4 KB to 6 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as BEGIN, BarID:=59422;, Bar[0]:=, Bar[0]:=0;, CXProgVer:="1.6";, DockManager:=, Style:=0; and Bars:=6;.
The remaining 65% of all OPT files are files with no common format, the following 13 formats can be found: Neuratron PhotoScore Document, XML, DOC, config, ZIP, Version, machine, PATIENT and CPcb. The category is user, options, export, prod, osoitteet, option or users. Just click the "Choose your .opt file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your OPT file is.

an opt database option is a special file format by Oracle and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with OPT files
- Associate the OPT file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open database options. Because only the current version supports the latest OPT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Oracle manufacturer website after an available MySQL update.
- To make sure that your OPT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .OPT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
