What is a PFS file

PFS files mostly belong to Amnesia: Memories by Idea Factory. PFS is the file extension used by a PhotoFiltre Studio Saved Selection file. PhotoFiltre Studio is an image editing software developed and published by Antonio Da Cruz. It is shareware, but also has free versions. The PFS format stores a selection in PhotoFiltre Studio. It contains the coordinates used by the polygon selection tool in the program. A polygonal selection is created by drawing lines between the coordinates stored in the PFS file. After the last coordinate, the selection tool draws a final line between the last and the first coordinate. The PFS file is a plain text file and can be edited in any text editor. The first line of the PFS file has a single number. This number determines the total number of coordinates that the selection file includes. The lines that follow contain the coordinates of the polygon's vertices. These coordinates are written in the (x,y) notation.

How do you open PFS files?

You need a suitable software like Amnesia: Memories to open a PFS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PFS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PFS file directly in the browser:. PFS file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. 6% of all PFS files start with the magic bytes ; ; Array sets ; ; Written on 200, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are on average 3 KB in size and range from 3 KB to 6 KB. The files contain the following words: ; Array sets, ; Written on 2003.07.02 (time: 17:17:46) by bram, [Label=right lung], [LineMode=ClosedContour], { 316.238, 90.7619 } and { 357.619, 64.381 }. The file name JPCLN001.pfs is typical for these files.

How to solve problems with PFS files

Associate the PFS file extension with the correct application.
