What is a PMG file?

PMG files mostly belong to Photoshop by Adobe. PMG is the filename extension of panoramic image compositions merged from multiple images within Photoshop, a photo editing software. Such PMG files contain the images, their arrangement, as well as user-selected merging options. PMG is also the filename extension of index files that contain information about the MBX-style folders in Pegasus Mail version 3.0 and higher. A PMG index file is located in the same directory as the MBX-style folder and it contains information such as the folder's ID, size, name, and the amount of data deleted from the folder. 3D geometry data used by Euro Truck Simulator2 and American Truck Simulator video games are saved in PMG files. PageMaker, a discontinued desktop publishing program, used its "PS Group it" function to save group (PMG) files. Each PMG (group) file contains an EPS document made up of PostScript data for high resolution printing.

How do you open PMG files?

You need a suitable software like Photoshop to open a PMG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PMG file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PMG file directly in the browser:. The PMG file type is a very commonly used file extension and covers different formats for different programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 50% of all PMG files use the same file format, which have the signature 15 67 6D 50. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. PMG files can be up to 41 MB in size, but are often around 2 KB - 2 MB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. These files are attributed to truck, exhaust, lightbox, paint, plate, toys, logo, sign and slot.
• 15% of all PMG files start with the bytes 14 67 6D 50 crucial for this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 870 bytes to 4 MB in size. An example of a file name is truck.pmg. Such files are related to custom, company, driver, anim and sisl.

The remaining 35% of all PMG files are files with no common format, often e.g. Photomerge Composition, Print Magic Graphic, gmP, pmg and PIMG.
