What is a PTD file

PTD files mostly belong to Creo by PTC. The PTD extension is most commonly used as an internal file that supports the operations of programs. It contains encoded text but can also hold plain text and binary data. PTD files support compression and can be converted to other formats such a PDF.

  • Encoding & Compression: It uses the Unicode character set, and is encoded with UTF-8 allowing it to store more characters. The spatial efficiency of UTF-8 reduces the file size, and compression algorithms such as Zip can be applied to PTD files.
  • Main Use: The most common use of PTD is by PipeTech, a program developed by Penisular to collect and manage pipeline data including inspection reports, surveyor information, certificate numbers, and paths to MPGEAV video files for that inspection. A hardware component known as the Sentinel is connected to the software to capture data into the PTD file.
  • Other Uses: Programs include Outlook Web App for email Template Phrases, IBM for Printer Definition Tables for their PC5250 printer, Pro/Engineer/Creo, a 3D CAD/CAM/CAE program for family table data, Polar wrist units for team data, and LiveNote.

The PTD extension is also used by archive format by Sony for PSP games to bundle game resources and assets.

How to open PTD files

You need a suitable software like Creo to open a PTD file. If you cannot open your PTD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PTD file directly in the browser:. PTCS - Participant Termination Calculation System is a DATAIR software solution for calculating and reporting retirement plan payouts and alternate forms of payments. It also provides generating prints and worksheets to accommodate reporting requirements to participants and their beneficiaries. PTD file contains data related to participant termination calculations. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: Info Page

PTD file format:

The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. In the following you will find our evaluation of the PTD files:

As a file extension, PTD isn't very common and covers different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

All other PTD files (65%) have no uniform format, often e.g. JetDB and JSON. They are often associated with template, phrases, nassco, knock, model or data. You can get all the details of your PTD file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .ptd file to analyze" above.

How to solve problems with PTD files

  • Associate the PTD file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open exported table files. Because only the current version supports the latest PTD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the PTC manufacturer website after an available Creo update.
  • To make sure that your PTD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
