- Quickbooks by Intuit
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. QBO files are often referred to as Quickbooks web (source)s because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- dBASE (compiled query) by dBASEdBASE is an embedded and distributed relational database management system. It saves a compiled query in a QBO file. This file format is classified as Database.
QBO file extension format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our examination of the QBO files comes to the following conclusion:
QBO is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type predominantly uses a uniform format. The following file formats are most commonly found in QBO files:
- 75% of all QBO files start with the bytes OFXHEADER: crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The files are on average 13 KB in size and range from 1 KB to 64 KB. The file type is a fairly new file format. The following keywords are characteristic: COMPRESSION:NONE, DATA:OFXSGML, ENCODING:USASCII, OFXHEADER:100, NEWFILEUID:NONE, OLDFILEUID:NONE, CHARSET:1252, VERSION:102, <OFX>, <SIGNONMSGSRSV1>, <SONRS>, <STATUS>, SECURITY:NONE, <CODE>0 and SEVERITY. The following filename is common: accountactivity.qbo. Files like these are about transactions, checking, history, export, transaction, stmt, statement and cibc.
- 10% of all QBO files are based on the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. A typical file size is 12 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. encoding, utf-8 and <?xml version="1.0" standalone="no"?><?OFX OFXHEADER="200" VERSI. The following filename is common: activity.qbo or 2020-06-01_transaction_download.qbo. Such QBO files store data about download.
The remaining 15% of all QBO files are files with no common format, often, for example, dBASE compiled Query and OFXHEADER. Files like these are sometimes linked to account, ofxdl, ddaofxdl, data, statements, business, exported, quickbks, savings, dofxdl or card. Just click the "Choose your .qbo file to view" button on this page to find out what your QBO file is.
