What is a QC file

QC files mostly belong to Quake-C by id. QC files are scripts written using QuakeC, a variation of the C programming language which is optimized for developing video games and artificial intelligence applications. Source Engine, a 3D game development toolkit uses QC scripts to compile SMD (Studiomdl Model data) from ASCII text-based 3D models to binary MDL models that can be loaded into various video games such as Half Life and Counter-Strike: Source. The contents of such QC scripts are commands for defining the name of the compiled model, references to locations where materials are stored, and the SMD model's name used to provide the collision, geometry, animation, gestures, and mesh data to be used in compiling the model. These commands are written using C-like syntax. QC file extension is also associated with Progress, a business application development platform. The QC file used by Progress contains query/results configuration such as permissions, printers etc.

How do you open QC files?

You need a suitable software like Quake-C to open a QC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your QC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a QC file directly in the browser:.
