What is a QC file
How do you open QC files?

Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your QC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a QC file directly in the browser:. QC file format:
To find out what program is needed to open QC files, you need to determine the file format. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. In the following you will find our evaluation of the QC files:
The QC file extension is not widely used. Such a file covers different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 65% of all QC files store the data in the Source file format. A source code is the set of instructions written by a programmer using a computer programming language like JavaScript, C++ or Basic. This code is translated into machine language by a compiler. The translated result is called app, program or executable. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are often between 540 bytes and 32 KB in size. It is a modern file type. The keywords modelname, bodygroup, studio and // Created by Crowbar 0.71 are typical for these files. Files like these have the following tags: survivor and player.
- 6% of all QC files start with the magic bytes $modelname , which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are 190 bytes to 2 KB in size, with a median of 320 bytes. The files contain the following words: modelname.
All the rest of the QC files (29%) have different formats. These files are often connected to hggccx, clean, knife, ckdl or male. Just click the "Choose your .qc file to view" button on this page to find out what your QC file is.
Technical Data for QC File Extension
a qc source code is a special file format by id and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with QC files
- Associate the QC file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open source codes. Because only the current version supports the latest QC file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the id manufacturer website after an available Quake-C update.
- To make sure that your QC file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .QC file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
