How to open a QSD file

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the QSD files comes to the following conclusion:

The QSD file extension is rarely used and is used by different programs with different formats. The file formats most commonly found in QSD files are:

• 40% of all QSD files are Quicken Win Data files. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. QSD files can be up to 3 MB in size, but are often around 8 KB - 1 MB. This file type was primarily in use more than 20 years ago. The following keywords are characteristic: QW Ver, Ver. 3.00.00 and Macros V3.0. A common filename is Qdata.QSD. These files are attributed to quicken and meine, and often consist of personal data.
• 30% of all QSD files use the same file format, which have the signature Created by QSoft @. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 360 KB to 3 MB in size. The keywords Created by QSoft, DefaultSweepFreqRange=500000, MaxSweepFreqStep=2500, [QCE4_Settings], AutostartPrimingDefault=0, QCNoChamber_Settings and TAcqDataContainerE4 are typical for these files.
