What is an R00 file

R00 files mostly belong to WinRAR by RARLAB. A file with R00 file extension is a WinRar compressed archive file. The archive is part of a multi-file collection, and can be one archive or one of many segments of an archive that is divided in to multiple files such as R01, R02, etc. Linked archives are expressed in the following forms: the old R00 up to R99 or the new RAR form.

File splitting: An RAR file usually consists of a single or multiple files constricted with RAR constriction. These segmented archive files are usually split for convenience into separate smaller pieces, making it easier to download or move a large file. Once downloaded they can be stored in separate pieces in order to fit onto smaller storage media such as multiple 700 megabyte compact discs.
Accessing contents: Files with R00 can be opened on Windows, Linux and MacOS operating systems but only from a command line. To open these compressed files one has many available options such as WinRar and WinZip. All the different parts are required to be in one place i.e inside the same directory or folder.
