Opening RIT Files
The RIT file type is primarily associated with Multiple Applications.
What is a RIT file?
- ALS Prolog source code: Some RIT files contain Prolog code. In certain cases they are also linked to a raster image file format, which means the text may be interleaved with image data.
- Tecnomatix/CAD files: Other versions are used in industrial design. They can be Tecnomatix files (with an internal format called Source2) and are sometimes known as MicroStation Redline files. These hold drawing data used in engineering environments.
- Embroidery design files: A group of RIT files stores embroidery designs. They appear either as a raster image file for embroidery or as a machine embroidery design file, as seen with products from Ritm and MTS CamModul.
FilExt.com tips: To view a RIT file, you must use the right software. For source code, a text editor or Prolog IDE may work. For CAD or redline files, try Tecnomatix or MicroStation PowerDraft. For embroidery designs, specialized embroidery software is needed. Check the file properties or use file-specific documentation to choose the correct tool.
How to open a RIT file
You need a suitable software like Multiple Applications to open a RIT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RIT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RIT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert RIT files:
- Multiple Applications
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. RIT files are often referred to as Multiple Applications miscs because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Velrita Document File(DOS word processing)
RIT file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the RIT files looks like this:
The RIT file extension is rather rarely used and does not have a uniform file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in RIT files:
- 15% of all RIT files are based on the popular Source file format. A source code is the set of instructions written by a programmer using a computer programming language like JavaScript, C++ or Basic. This code is translated into machine language by a compiler. The translated result is called app, program or executable. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The files are on average 150 KB in size and range from 29 KB to 260 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. M4_VERSION__, Saved, Ver 1, MOTORE_VERSION__, 5 NewNum, //Locale : it-IT.1252, ADDON and Tesy.
- 10% of all RIT files start with the magic bytes 00 E8, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. RIT files are between 130 KB and 130 KB in size. The following filename is common: als1.rit.
All other RIT files (75%) have no uniform format, often e.g. MTS. These files sometimes refer to vpart, audf, phof, vidf or class. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your RIT file!
Technical Data for RIT File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\InterVideo\Disc Master\DiscMaster.EXE %1
a rit multi-purpose data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with RIT files
- Associate the RIT file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open multi-purpose data files. Because only the current version supports the latest RIT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Multiple Applications update.
- To make sure that your RIT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
