What is an RVL file?

RVL files mostly belong to RVLBackup. RVL files are used in different systems and are not a single format. They can be one of the following:

RemoteView log file: This file records PC events and system activity. It works as a PC activity log file and is produced by tools such as RVLBackup.

Muvee Reveal project file: This version is XML based. It stores project settings and editing data for video projects.

RealView Logic analyzer file: This file holds capture data for signal testing, sometimes used with Logitech Harmony Remote configurations. More details appear on the ARM website.

How do you open RVL files?

You need a suitable software like RVLBackup to open an RVL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RVL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RVL file directly in the browser:. RVL file format details:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. RVL is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type does not have a uniform file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
