Programs that open and convert SG_ files:
- Adobe Photoshop
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SG_ files are often referred to as Adobe Photoshop raster images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Adobe Photoshop 3.0The *.SG_ file extension is primarily associated with older versions of Adobe Photoshop, specifically version 3.0. These files typically represent image data, often serving as auxiliary files or renamed JPEG images. While the exact internal structure might vary, they generally contain pixel information and other image-related metadata relevant to Photoshop's functionality. It's worth noting that due to their age and association with obsolete software, encountering these files is relatively rare in contemporary workflows. This file format is classified as Image.
SG_ file format:
To view or edit SG_ files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the SG_ files:
An SG_ file is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 35% of all SG_ files have the same signature 00 5E 2A 00 00 FF D8 FF E0. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. A typical file size is 170 KB. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as 8BIM, Copyri, FX Global Altitude, FX Global Lighting Angle, JFIF, Photoshop 3.0, Print Flags and Resolution. Some examples of file names are 3000.sg_.
- 10% of all SG_ files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "01 47 48 00 00 FF D8 FF E0" at the beginning. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 280 KB and 280 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. CExif, JFIF and OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAM. A common filename is 3001.sg_.
The remaining 55% of all SG_ files are files with no common format, the following 5 formats exist: JFIF and kou. Just click the "Choose your .sg_ file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your SG_ file is.
