What is an SKY file?

SKY files mostly belong to Skylanders. SKY files are not a single type of file but a set of specialized data files used in different applications.
When you see a SKY file, it may be one of the following:

How can I open an SKY file?

You need a suitable software like Skylanders to open an SKY file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. SKY file format:

If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the SKY files:

The SKY file extension is rarely used and includes many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:

• 20% of all SKY files start with the bytes 00 01 38 42 53 4B 00 00, which are crucial for this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are 5 MB to 170 MB in size, with a median of 130 MB. The files contain the following words: 8BSK, Hrznlong, Pnt1, SkIFTEXT, null, spCtlong, spImlong, spTsObjc, spstlong, sviDlong, JPEG and Vrtclo. An example of a file name is Untitled Sky Presets.sky or Spectacular_Pack_1.sky. These files are often associated with pack, skies, presets, spectacular and night.
• 10% of all SKY files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "SKY" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. The average file size is 14 KB with most files being between 14 KB and 34 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as P(aW`. The following filename is common: MK8518C_APP_V1.0_20180601.sky or GT620C-V2020-06-010408.sky.
