Opening an SWT File
The SWT file type is primarily associated with Swift Publisher.
What is an SWT file?
How to open SWT files
You need a suitable software like Swift Publisher to open an SWT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SWT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SWT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert SWT files:
- Swift Publisher
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SWT files are often referred to as Swift Publisher page layouts because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Flash (Templatized SWF File) by Adobe Systems IncorporatedAdobe Flash, initially known as Shockwave Flash and popularly called simply Flash, refers to both the Adobe Flash Player and to the Adobe Flash Professional multimedia authoring program. The Flash Player, developed and distributed by Adobe Systems (which acquired Macromedia in a merger that was finalized in December 2005), is a client application available in most common web browsers. SWT files are templatized forms of .SWF files.

SWT format details:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the SWT files:
As a file extension, SWT isn't very common and is used by different programs with different formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 45% of all SWT files use the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. SWT files are between 10 KB and 470 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as </layout>, , <attributes>, <layout>, <start>, <attribute_version>1.0</attribute_version>, attribute_orientation and
. Some examples of file names are template.swt. Files like these are sometimes connected to badge, back and card, and often consist of personal data.
- 5% of all SWT files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "FWS" at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. A typical file size is 59 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. MovieSetCommand width, commands, generator, height, macromedia and rate. Some examples of file names are 105-SPACE-THEME2.swt. Such files sometimes refer to message.
The remaining 50% of all SWT files are different files with different signatures, such as SelectWare Technologies archive and DOC. Often described as swtrpt, gwent, mission, illust or global. If you want to find out what your SWT file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

an swt template file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with SWT files
- Associate the SWT file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open template files. Because only the current version supports the latest SWT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Swift Publisher update.
- To make sure that your SWT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .SWT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
