What is a T3 file?

T3 files mostly belong to Inform 7. Interactive Fiction Usage:

Purpose: These T3 files store text adventure game data. They are used by Inform 7 systems and are linked with TADS 3 for managing interactive fiction narratives.

Configuration Usage:

Functionality: Other T3 files use GZIP compression to hold access control details and Niagara configuration data in Tridium systems.

Some records also refer to TYPO3 website data.

How to open T3 files

You need a suitable software like Inform 7 to open a T3 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your T3 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a T3 file directly in the browser:. T3 file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the T3 files comes to the following conclusion:

The T3 file extension is not found very often and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 60% of all T3 files belong to TADS 3 Game. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 700 KB and 22 MB in size. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. The keywords ENTP, T3-image, SYMD, String.specialsToHtml.flags, String.specialsToHtml.tag, leng and objToString are typical for these files. An example of a file name is sophiesEyes.t3 or villan_1_5_1.t3. Such T3 files store data about eyes, teachers, alpha, dewey, drrealgood, diabolical, hound, lark, lost and rise.
• 25% of all T3 files are using the well-known GZIP file format to store the data. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The average file size is 26 KB with most files being between 8 KB and 7 MB in size. diagnostic-report.t3 is a typical file name.
