What is a UDC file?

UDC files mostly belong to SAP GUI. UDC files are not a single type of file. They serve different functions depending on the software that created them.

SAP Documentation Files: These files are used in SAP environments. They store user data and documentation content. Some of these files are compressed (using ZIP) and used in SAP GUI for Windows or SAP Enable Now. More details can be found on the SAP Support site.

Amateur Radio Contest Files: Some UDC files are used by contest logging software like N1MM Logger+ or UCXLog. They keep configuration settings for radio contests. Information is available at N1MM Logger+.

Vocaloid Dictionary Files: Other UDC files are used by the UTAU program. They are dictionary files encoded in UTF-16 (LE) that hold data for vocal synthesis.

How to open UDC files

You need a suitable software like SAP GUI to open a UDC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your UDC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a UDC file directly in the browser:. UDC file format:

If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the UDC files is as follows:

As a file extension, UDC isn't very common and is used by different programs with different formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in UDC files:

• 35% of all UDC files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "hihi.no" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. UDC files can be up to 61 MB in size, but are often around 740 KB - 7 MB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as hihi.no. These files are attributed to create, record, order, maintenance and master.
• 20% of all UDC files use the ZIP format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one UDC file. 36 to 150 compressed files are common. Customary file names are -meta-inf-manifest.xml, annotations.xml, content.xml, images-1.png, images-c1.png, images-i1.png, images-o1.png, meta.xml and static-noteicon_1.png. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. The files are on average 2 MB in size and range from 1 MB to 5 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as content.xml and eVe]f. Files like these have the following tags: account.
