How to open a VSK file

You need a suitable software like Visual Studio to open a VSK file. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our examination of the VSK files comes to the following conclusion:

VSK is not a common file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 65% of all VSK files use the same file format, which have the signature 12 06 07 20. They consist of unreadable binary data. The file size is in the range of 12 bytes to 21 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Examples of file names are User.vsk or Current.vsk. Such files sometimes refer to visual, studio, resharper, code, basic, visualc and emacs.
• 20% of all VSK files are based on the popular XML file format. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <Parameters>, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>, KinematicModel MODEL, VALUE, VERSION, PRIOR, HIDDEN, PlugInGait and <StaticParameter NAME="Bodymass".
