What is an X12 file

X12 files mostly belong to X12 EDI Translator. X12 files are structured text files used for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

5% of all X12 files use the popular UTF-8 file format. UTF-8 is the World Wide Web's most common character encoding for Unicode. UTF-8 files can be viewed with any text editor. These files start with the 3 bytes ï»¿ (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). These files contain text and words, not binary data. The file size is in the range of 370 bytes to 1 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 005010X222A1 and UHIN3. These files can be linked to muclm.
