X12 file format:
To find out what program is needed to open X12 files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the X12 files looks like this:
The X12 file extension mainly uses a defined X12 format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 85% of all X12 files have the same signature ISA. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The files are on average 2 KB in size and range from 480 bytes to 50 KB. It is a modern file type. Such X12 files store data about remittance, ltdout, sample, adjustment and inventory.
- 5% of all X12 files use the popular UTF-8 file format. UTF-8 is the World Wide Web's most common character encoding for Unicode. UTF-8 files can be viewed with any text editor. These files start with the 3 bytes (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). These files contain text and words, not binary data. The file size is in the range of 370 bytes to 1 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 005010X222A1 and UHIN3. These files can be linked to muclm.
The remaining 10% of all X12 files are files with no common format. They are often associated with webmd. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your X12 file!
