What is an XDL file?

XDL files mostly belong to SQL Server Management Studio by Microsoft. An XDL file contains a deadlock graph generated by SQL Server database management system. It contains a graph describing the cause of a deadlock which occurs due to a cyclic dependency between multiple threads or processes for one or more database resources. The contents of an XDL graph are written in Extensible Markup Language (XML). SQL Server Management Studio or the profiler in SQL Server can be used to view and analyze deadlock events in an XDL graph.

Can't Open Your .XDL File? Try These Steps

Because .XDL files can originate from different programs, they aren't universally openable.
