What is an XX file?

XX files mostly belong to ZipGenius by ZipGenius. XX files are 7-bit ASCII (character set containing 128 characters) text files which are encoded through XXEncoding, an encoding method which only utilizes the alphanumeric characters, as well as plus and minus signs.

How can I open an XX file?

Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To find out what program is needed to open XX files, you need to determine the file format. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. • 10% of all XX files start with the magic bytes 08 00 00 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are on average 5 MB in size and range from 340 KB to 8 MB.
