What is an X_B file?

X_B files mostly belong to Parasolid by Siemens. An X_B file is a 3D model of a product part or assembly created with Parasolid computer-aided industrial product modeling kernel. The contents of an X_B file are binary encoded, hence, the _B appended to it. This also means an X_B file is more machine independent and unlikely to raise compatibility concerns when working with Parasolid in different CAD programs. Unlike X_B files, an ASCII text encoded product model created with Parasolid is saved in an X_T. Parasolid is compatible with CAD, CAM, and CAE programs such as NX, Inventor, Solidworks, MasterCAM, Solid Edge, and IronCAD.

How do you open X_B files?

You need a suitable software like Parasolid to open an X_B file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your X_B file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a X_B file directly in the browser:.
