What is a ZMP file?

ZMP files mostly belong to ZenMaster. If you open a ZMP file, you may be dealing with different types of data.
Variants in Use:

Zen Master Project: This file is stored using a ZIP container. It holds project data, often linked with optics design (as seen in Zemax OpticStudio workflows). Use ZenMaster software to open and manage these files.

LNTsoft Document: In some cases the file is created by LNTsoft ZMP Editor. These files might be used to store documents such as school tests, especially in Vietnamese educational contexts.

Zemetrics 3D Surface Map Data: Some ZMP files contain spatial or 3D mapping information. They are used with applications like Zemetrics Map Viewer to handle surface data.

How to open ZMP files

You need a suitable software like ZenMaster to open a ZMP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. As a file extension, ZMP isn't very common and includes different formats for different programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 40% of all ZMP files internally use the ZIP format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one ZMP file. Primarily 2 to 59 files are included. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The files are often between 7 KB and 980 KB in size. Zen Master Factory Expansion Pack.zmp or 1.zmp is a typical file name.
• 20% of all ZMP files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "LNTsoft" at the beginning. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are 35 KB to 3 MB in size, with a median of 2 MB. The files contain the following words: LNTsoft. A common filename is dethiXLTHS_1.zmp or De01.zmp. Such files are related to ontapgiuahk, dethi and ontap.
