Opening a ZDB File
The ZDB file type is primarily associated with Various programs.
What is a ZDB file
For example, some ZDB files contain game data. In one case, they hold information for games such as Battlefield 2042 or serve as a Zone of the Enders data file managed by ZenGin Archive.
Other files use the same extension for database purposes. Some are compressed using ZIP and store a Firebird database, while others use GZIP to compress data. A typical case is the Ditto Clipboard Database; you can get more details on that version at Ditto Clipboard Project.
FilExt.com tips: In addition, a few files serve as game data files used by applications such as ftscore or as Tandem NonStop database files. To view or modify these files, you must use the program that originally created them. If they are compressed, standard decompression tools (like those for ZIP or GZIP) may allow you to inspect their contents.
How do you open ZDB files?
You need a suitable software like Various programs to open a ZDB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ZDB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ZDB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

ZDB format details:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the ZDB files comes to the following conclusion:
ZDB is seldom used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 50% of all ZDB files start with the bytes C8 00 00 00 crucial for this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. ZDB files are between 84 KB and 1 MB in size. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. These files are often associated with vcommon.
- 15% of all ZDB files use the ZIP format, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one ZDB file. A typical number of included files is 147. Customary file names are act.cdx, act.dbf, actninfo.cdx, actninfo.dbf, actninfo.fpt, afforg1.cdx, afforg1.dbf, afforg1.fpt, alccoun.cdx, alccoun.dbf, alccoun.fpt, alcdrug.cdx, alcdrug.dbf, alcdrug.fpt, arrest.cdx, arrest.dbf, arrest.fpt, b, bankrupt.cdx, bankrupt.dbf and bankrupt.fpt. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. ZDB files are between 36 KB and 40 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. `aaf`) and act.cdxc. These files can be linked to person-related data.
All other ZDB files (35%) have no consistent format, often e.g. SQL. They are often associated with data or ditto. If you want to find out what your ZDB file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
