What is an RSRC file?

RSRC files mostly belong to macOS by Apple. An RSRC file is a program compiled using Rez compiler in Xcode integrated development environment. Rez takes source code saved in an R file as input and compiles it to an RSRC program for Macintosh platforms. Another type of RSRC file stores the resource fork of a Macintosh file saved in AppleDouble format. AppleDouble format allows file systems without native support for resource forks to store and parse them with ease. A resource fork contains data such as libraries, images, icon, and other static/dynamic data used by various applications.

How to open RSRC files

You need a suitable software like macOS to open an RSRC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. The keywords lSystem.Resources.ResourceReader, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089#System.Resources.RuntimeResourceSet and PADPADP are typical for these files. A common filename is 0.rsrc.
