What is a TCL file

TCL files mostly belong to Tcl by Tcl Developer Exchange. A TCL file is a script written in Tool Command Language. It can be created/edited using a code editor such as Sublime and executed using Tcl command line package. TCL scripts are mainly used to automate debugging and data modification operations. TK graphical user interface development toolkit uses TCL scripts written in Tool Command Language. TextPad text editor uses a different TCL file to store its clip library. TCL is also the filename extension of a script used to export design data from Bridge building information modeling software.

How to open a TCL file

You need a suitable software like Tcl to open a TCL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 9% of all TCL files have the same signature ######. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. The files are on average 7 KB in size and range from 1 KB to 35 KB. Files like these have the following tags: setup, design, report, clock, help and init.

All the rest of the TCL files (76%) have different formats, often, for example, shell script, Source, ZIP, Creat, puts, proc, set, cisco and XlxV. These files sometimes refer to script, polsarpro, biomass, edition, create or primetime.
