Opening an A01 File
The A01 file type is primarily associated with ALZip.
What is an A01 file?
- Necessity: Compressing huge amounts of data into a single extractable file, makes it difficult to transfer the file across the internet. File compression software overcome this hurdle by archiving several smaller sized sequentially named partitions of the original compressed file. These partitions can then be easily transferred one by one, to the intended destination. Once they are received, the end-user can use the same software again, to simultaneously combine these files and extract all the original data.
- Supported Software: ALZip from ESTSoft, archives and compresses files in ALZ file format. It's partition archive files are sequentially named as A00, A01,A02 and so on. It is possible to retrieve the original contents, only if all the sequential file partitions are present, along with an initial ALZ file. ARJ software utilizes the A01 file extension in the same manner as ALZip, in the course of unpacking the contents.

See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. A01 files are often referred to as ALZip compresseds because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- ARJ (split archive file) by Robert K. JungARJ stands for Archived by Robert Jung. It is a high-efficiency archiving and compression utility. ARJ supports both single-volume and spanned (multiple-volume) archives. To create spanned archives, ARJ splits files into compressed volumes and gives each volume a numbered extension. The first file has the ARJ extension, followed by A01, A02 and so on. A01 is the file extension for the second file of the spanned archive. This file format is classified as Compressed. A01 file format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the A01 files is as follows:
As a file extension, A01 isn't very common and covers different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in A01 files:
- 25% of all A01 files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "628IDENTREGISTER1" at the beginning. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The files are on average 8 KB in size and range from 5 KB to 17 KB. It is a modern file type. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. EAPFEMPA and IDENTREGISTER. EMPDUPE.A01 is a typical file name. Files like these are sometimes connected to coffee and there.
- 15% of all A01 files use the same file format, which have the signature 19 A3 95 78. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 5 KB to 8 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as UGY[. A common filename is acgroup.a01 or glmonth.a01. These files are attributed to order.
All the rest of the A01 files (60%) have different formats, frequently e.g. MP3, NGAG, dic and ALZ. These files are often connected to ngag or pokazatelji. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your A01 file!
