What is an ADR file?

ADR files mostly belong to Remote Administration Daemon by Oracle. An ADR file contains a hotlist of websites used by Opera Internet browser. The names of websites in such an ADR file are displayed as easily accessible bookmarks on a new tab. Another type of ADR file is a recovered document (QBW.ADR) or a transaction log (TLG.ADR) created by the Auto Data Recovery feature of QuickBooks. ADR is also the filename extension of an address book database created by address/contacts management programs such as Address Plus. The RAD (Remote Administration Daemon) for managing Solaris system components uses module specs saved in ADR files.

How do you open ADR files?

ADR file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. 10% of all ADR files have the same signature 00 00 00 00. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 2 MB and 100 MB in size.

How to solve problems with ADR files

Associate the ADR file extension with the correct application.
Update your software that should actually open module specs. Because only the current version supports the latest ADR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Oracle manufacturer website after an available Remote Administration Daemon update.
