Opening an AIS File
The AIS file type is primarily associated with MIT App Inventor.
What is an AIS file?
FilExt.com note: If you have an AIS file, check its header or try opening it with the program related to its expected use. This determination is key since the same extension can mean a source project, a saved game, a database, or an audio project file.
How to open AIS files
You need a suitable software like MIT App Inventor to open an AIS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AIS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AIS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert AIS files:
- MIT App Inventor
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. AIS files are often referred to as MIT App Inventor developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- ACDSee (Image Sequence File) by ACD Systems Ltd.Program ID is ACDC_AIS, ACDSee.AIS
- Array of Intensity SamplesGraphic
- Velvet Studio Instruments
AIS file format:
To view or edit AIS files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the AIS files:
As a file extension, AIS isn't very common and does not have a uniform file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 20% of all AIS files use ZIP compression, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one AIS file. 4 to 7 compressed files with names like \src\, \src\io\, \src\io\kodular\ and \youngandroidproject\project.properties are common. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are often between 1 KB and 64 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: kodular and Screen1. iot plant.ais is a typical file name. Such AIS files store data about screen.
- 15% of all AIS files are based on the popular JetDB file format. The JetDB is a database format often used by Microsoft Access and Visual Basic programs. JET is short for Joint Engine Technology. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 12 MB. The keywords Standard Jet DB are typical for these files.
All other AIS files (65%) have no uniform format, frequently e.g. XML, IAAC and UMAIR. These files sometimes refer to finglau, finfxau, master or gobd. You can get all the details of your AIS file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .ais file to analyze" above.

an ais container is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with AIS files
- Associate the AIS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open containers. Because only the current version supports the latest AIS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available MIT App Inventor update.
- To make sure that your AIS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .AIS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
