Opening BA Files
The BA file type is primarily associated with Scifer.
What is a BA file?
- Features: The initial version of the software uses compression algorithms based on UCL (Universal Common Logic). The final version (beta) released in 2008, switched to LZA in favor of faster decompression. Although it is common for archiving software to store file header information in the compressed file itself, Scifer deviates from this norm. A BA file does not contain any archiver and header information. An accompanying XML file, created in parallel along with the BA file, acts as an external header. BA archive features password protection for additional security. Even in the absence of encryption, the archive is immune from virus attacks as it doesn't contain the file header data.
- Support: The BA file can only be compressed and decompressed using the Scifer Archiver. This software can be installed in DOS, Windows, and Linux environments.

BA file format details:
To view or edit BA files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the BA files is as follows:
The BA file extension is rarely used and covers different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all BA files start with the bytes Basic Application File crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. A typical file size is 3 KB. The files contain the following words: Basic Application File and 5lFr.
- 15% of all BA files have the same signature ANIM. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 370 bytes and 8 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: ANIM, Data, Bip01 and character.
All other BA files (65%) have no uniform format, such as echo and flight. The category is instalar, list or stat. You can get all the details of your BA file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .ba file to analyze" above.
