What is a BA file?

BA files mostly belong to Scifer by Senthil Kumar R. BA file stands for the Binary Archive file. The BA file format is one of the two proprietary file compression formats created by the Scifer Archiver tool (SEN being the other).

• Features: The initial version of the software uses compression algorithms based on UCL (Universal Common Logic). The final version (beta) released in 2008, switched to LZA in favor of faster decompression. Although it is common for archiving software to store file header information in the compressed file itself, Scifer deviates from this norm. A BA file does not contain any archiver and header information. An accompanying XML file, created in parallel along with the BA file, acts as an external header. BA archive features password protection for additional security. Even in the absence of encryption, the archive is immune from virus attacks as it doesn't contain the file header data.
• Support: The BA file can only be compressed and decompressed using the Scifer Archiver. This software can be installed in DOS, Windows, and Linux environments.
