Opening CARD Files
The CARD file type is primarily associated with CardPresso.
What is a CARD file?
Most of these files use the ZIP format to compress elements like images, text layers, and layout settings. This makes them ideal for programs such as CardPresso, where they are used to generate professional card designs.
Some CARD files are encoded in UTF-8 and are used to hold digital card information, for example, game cards like those in Clash Royale.
Other variants use Microsoft Compound File Binary Format, which is common in business card design applications like Pointman Card Designer.
Consider the following points when handling a CARD file:
How can I open a CARD file?
You need a suitable software like CardPresso to open a CARD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CARD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CARD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CARD file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the CARD files is as follows:
The CARD file extension is quite common and mainly uses a defined CARD format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 85% of all CARD files use ZIP compression, so several files are compressed and saved in one CARD file. CARD files contain from 10 to 16 compressed files. Customary file names are thumbnail.png, thumbnail.xml, thumbnailHI.jpg, \Document\xl.xml, \Embedded\DocumentFiles\, \Embedded\DocumentFiles\HISTORY\, \Embedded\DocumentFiles\HISTORY\Dbs\CUSTOMVIEW.DB, \Embedded\DocumentFiles\HISTORY\Dbs\EDITVIEW.DB, \Embedded\ENCODING.xml, \Embedded\HISTORY.xml and \Embedded\SCRIPTS.xml. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. CARD files are between 63 KB and 2 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Document/xl.xml. Such files are related to staff, front, template, badge, back, document, format and presso, and often consist of personal data.
- 4% of all CARD files internally utilize the JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are on average 840 KB in size and range from 210 bytes to 1 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: description, elixir, name, "type": "troop", "rarity": "legendary", "language": "en", "level": "5" and image. These files are often associated with level.
All the rest of the CARD files (11%) have different formats, often e.g. POINTMAN. Files like these are sometimes linked to employee, carnet, mohd, certificate, tapestry, general, student, master, blank, cards, carte, photo, tayan, almy, pass or road. If you want to find out what your CARD file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
