What is a CHW file

CHW files mostly belong to Help by Microsoft. A CHW file contains the index of Compiled HTML (CHM) help documents used by some versions of Windows. It contains a table of contents (including references) for CHM files containing documentation for a given topic accessible through the Help utility. Although Help is no longer bundled with current versions of Windows, third party applications can read CHW files.

How to open CHW files

You need a suitable software like Help from Microsoft to open a CHW file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
