The CONTACT file type is primarily associated with 'Windows Vista' by Microsoft Corporation. This is an XML formatted file that details contact information for the person whose name makes up the rootname for the file. The format is also used by Windows Live for the same purpose.

When windows gives you an error message saying that it
"Cannot open CONTACT files", this means either:

A. You need to identify a program that can open the file
B. Or your registry may be damaged
