What is a CSC file?

CSC files mostly belong to GTA V mod tools (RSC7). CSC files are not a single, uniform file type. Their purpose and structure depend on the software that created them.
For some users, a CSC file is a mod or script file used to alter gameplay in Grand Theft Auto V. These files hold instructions for game mods and are processed by mod tools. More details can be found at GTA V Mods.
In other cases, a CSC file stores scientific data. For example, files from the MicroCal PEAQ-ITC instrument use a GZIP compression to hold experimental measurements in a compact format.
Another role is in coordinate system conversion with Leica Geo Office, where the file holds transformation data.

How to open CSC files

You need a suitable software like GTA V mod tools (RSC7) to open a CSC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. CSC file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the CSC files comes to the following conclusion:

The CSC file ending does not have a uniform file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in CSC files:

• 15% of all CSC files start with the bytes RSC7, which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. CSC files can be up to 410 KB in size, but are often around 8 KB - 190 KB. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. RSC7. The file name ArabicGuy.csc or ModLoader.csc is typical for these files. Such files sometimes refer to menu and freeze.
• 15% of all CSC files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "´:E" at the beginning. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The average file size is 170 KB with most files being between 4 KB and 310 KB in size. A common filename is ModLoader.csc or NotYourDope.csc. These files can be linked to dope, your and rock.
