What is a CXM file?

CXM files mostly belong to Česká televize. CXM files are used in different work flows. They do not refer to just one type of data.

Czech TV and Camera Settings: Some CXM files use a CAP-based format. They serve as file formats for Czech TV broadcasts and camera configuration. You can learn more at Česká televize.

Compiled XML Data: Other CXM files are compressed XML files. They are produced by systems such as Qt, where the XML is compiled into a single file.

How to open CXM files

You need a suitable software like Česká televize to open a CXM file. CXM file format:

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the CXM files produces the following result:

The CXM file extension is rarely used and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 20% of all CXM files save the data in CAP file format. CAP files are compressed archives. The first bytes (the signature) are 'MSCF' (short for MicroSoft Cabinet File). If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 37 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: MSCF and data.
• 15% of all CXM files have the same signature D1 86 CE 6B 69 89 EC 55 BA DA BA C1 09 33 B1 65. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 270 bytes in size and range from 270 bytes to 370 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. OC5R. An example of a file name is Version.cxm. Files like these are sometimes connected to text.

The remaining 65% of all CXM files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. ZIP, DOC, XML, CXM and CPS. They are often associated with einrichtung, rechnung, classic, mandanten or logo.
