Opening a DLD File
The DLD file type is primarily associated with LoggerNet.
What is a DLD file
How do you open DLD files?
You need a suitable software like LoggerNet to open a DLD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DLD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DLD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert DLD files:
- LoggerNet by Campbell Scientific
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DLD files are often referred to as LoggerNet executables because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- DLL detective (downloaded data) by Adam MoravanszkyDDL Detective is an obsolete framework that allowed users to intercept and process communications between programs and dynamic link libraries on a Windows computer. It used a DLD file to save downloaded data. This file format is classified as Data.
- SmartSuite (data) by IBMSmartSuite is a discontinued home user and office productivity software suite. It features an organizer, word/spreadsheet processing application, and a relational database management system. Smartsuite uses a DLD file to store data. This file format is classified as Data.
DLD file format:
To view or edit DLD files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the DLD files produces the following result:
DLD is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type includes different formats for the applicable programs. The file formats most commonly found in DLD files are:
- 45% of all DLD files save the data in UTF-8 file format. UTF-8 is the World Wide Web's most common character encoding for Unicode. UTF-8 files can be viewed with any text editor. These files start with the 3 bytes (hex: EF BB BF), the so called byte order mark (BOM). They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 10 KB and 68 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. The following keywords are characteristic: begindelays, KeyHold=50, SystemHold=50, *SAVE=0, ENT=0, HourGlass=250, TAB=0, DataDelay=0, FormDelay=0.25 and CellDelay=0.2. These files are attributed to data, dataload, loader, load, goods, template, close, prerp and gmbh.
- 10% of all DLD files are using the well-known XML file format to store the data. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. DLD files are between 3 KB and 31 KB in size. The files contain the following words: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, data, http://www.delem.com/delem, <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform", Version unit and ToolDefinition.
All other DLD files (45%) have no uniform format. Files like these are sometimes linked to cybert. Just click the "Choose your .dld file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your DLD file is.
Technical Data for DLD File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\Download Direct\DLD.exe -d
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\DLD.exe -d
a dld program is a special file format by Campbell Scientific and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DLD files
- Associate the DLD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open programs. Because only the current version supports the latest DLD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Campbell Scientific manufacturer website after an available LoggerNet update.
- To make sure that your DLD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DLD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
