What is a DRAW file?

DRAW files mostly belong to OpenOffice Draw. DRAW files are files that store drawing information in various specialized formats. They are not a single standard; instead, different programs use the same extension for files that serve different purposes.
For instance, some DRAW files contain embroidery designs used by machines like the Bernina Artista 730 or designs created with Wilcom Embroidery Studio. In these cases the file holds stitch patterns and design data in a structure such as a Microsoft Compound file.

How do you open DRAW files?

DRAW file format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. DRAW is not a commonly used file extension and does not have a uniform file format. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 20% of all DRAW files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known by the name OLE2 Compound Document Format or Composite Document File Format. This general-purpose file format provides a file-system-like structure within a file for the storage of arbitrary, application-specific streams of data. The first 8 bytes of the CFB format are D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). The file contains sections Contents, Thumbnail and SummaryInformation. A typical file size is 350 KB. • 20% of all DRAW files have the same signature FF FF. They consist of unreadable binary data. The average file size is 450 KB with most files being between 57 KB and 850 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as CPCDbc_coll. These files are attributed to global.
