What is an ENEX file?

ENEX files mostly belong to Evernote by Evernote. ENEX file extension is associated with Evernote application, a note taking, organizing, task management and archiving software developed by Evernote Corporation.

How to open an ENEX file

You need a suitable software like Evernote from Evernote to open an ENEX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ENEX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ENEX file directly in the browser:. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. Most of these files are 6 KB to 40 MB in size. The file type is relatively new. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, application, en-export export-date and <!DOCTYPE en-export SYSTEM "http://xml.evernote.com/pub/evernote-export3.dtd">. Some examples of file names are Evernote.enex. Files like these have the following tags: notes, backup and templates.
