What is an FDW file?

FDW files mostly belong to Acomba ERP. FDW files serve specific roles in distinct software environments. They come in two main varieties:

• Business Data FDW: These files are used as Sage 50 data files within the Acomba ERP system. They follow a structure similar to a FoxPro Database File. To open and view them, you must use the ERP software provided by the vendor. More details can be found at the Acomba ERP website.
• Electrical Design FDW: Other FDW files are used in the FebDok system for electrical design projects. They store project details like wiring schematics and layout data. How to open an FDW file

You need a suitable software like Acomba ERP to open an FDW file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our examination of the FDW files comes to the following conclusion:

FDW is not a commonly used file extension and covers different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 45% of all FDW files start with the magic bytes ÿÿÿÿ, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are often between 250 bytes and 30 MB in size. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. An example of a file name is CClient.FDW or CFacture.FDW. These files are often associated with pref, fact, cvendeur, ffacture, amulti, cstock and suser.
• 30% of all FDW files start with the bytes 34 00, which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. A typical file size is 59 KB. The files contain the following words: GUID, NELFO License, Saved, 438FebDok vs. 06.00.167 and 444FebDok vs. Such files are related to exported, febdok and bygg.
