What is a FUP file

FUP file extension format:

To find out what program is needed to open FUP files, you need to determine the file format. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the FUP files:

FUP is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type includes different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in FUP files:

• 30% of all FUP files use ZIP compression, so several files are combined and compressed into one FUP file. The 2 to 40 compressed files are called TotalVersion.cypt, baseqcom.flb and flyapdata.flp. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. FUP files are between 70 MB and 510 MB in size. The files contain the following words: baseqcom and cyptUT. Some examples of file names are flyupdate-G8II-ISR-HY-baseqcompatch-valuesw.fup or flyupdate-G8II-ISR-HY-release-20180601_1422-valuesw.fup. Files like these are sometimes connected to flyupdate, valuesw, release, baseqcompatch, user, public and ford.
• 30% of all FUP files start with the bytes FUP crucial for this file format. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. The file size is in the range of 600 KB to 1 MB. The files contain the following words: WEB Interface Image, WEB Interface Upgrade Package and AR2.png. The following filename is common: dvb-t-s2-web-v1-05.fup or multistandard-web-v1-04.fup. These files can be linked to spts and msdec.
