What is a G3D file?

G3D files mostly belong to GOM Inspect. G3D files are specialized 3D mesh data files used in inspection processes.

How to open a G3D file

You need a suitable software like GOM Inspect to open a G3D file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To view or edit G3D files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Files with the G3D extension are quite widely used. This file type mainly uses a special format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 80% of all G3D files start with the bytes 92 8B 93 93 96 9D DF 92 90 9B 9A 93 D1 92 8B 93 crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 990 KB to 79 MB in size. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. Examples of file names are model.g3d.
• 10% of all G3D files are associated with GOM 3D data. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. G3D files are between 3 MB and 120 MB in size.
