What is a GDI file?

GDI files mostly belong to Redream by RedDream Developers. A GDI file is the disk image of a video game extracted from a Dreamcast console games disc. It contains raw data which can be loaded into a Dreamcast console emulation program such as Redream, DreamEMU, and Flycast. Dreamcast video game console was discontinued in 2001. Another type of GDI file is a generic download installer for Linux applications developed by SmarttRPG. It contains a bash script.

How to open GDI files

You need a suitable software like Redream to open a GDI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GDI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GDI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.
